Hello this is my first thread here.. I've been racing these nascar games since they started like 10 years ago. Used to race and be ranked high on the weekly online boards, but then got a good job so I couldnt spend the time testing and practicing to really play around. I got into new games and yada yada... BUT I just got a ps3 and 42" plasma and found a new love for the Nascar 08 version I just got.
Anyways.. I've been doing some testing and I've gotten the car down to 49.599's and .6--'s and in the practice and race I've hit 49.299 a few times with some .3--'s to back it, hit 49.152 1 time with a VERY BIG sniff off a Big pac going into 3 which helped me hold it.. So is this a good time... I'm not to sure the set-ups in this new game are so Drastic from normal to hard.. On normal I can pull 6-10 second leads in 5% races.. but on Hard I qual in mid pack and cant hold the bottom well enough to stop there relentless attack which causes me to fall way back.. So anyone have any good Vegas set-Ups??
TY
Crow
I'll go write down my set-up and post it..

MODIFIED**** ok here is that set-up.. OH I just read the thread about Advanced settings and found I went the wrong way withthe front splitter. so it's now Up to a 5.75 I went down to a 4.0 and had problems never messed with a splitter.. anyways it just dropped me down to an unassisted 49.328 and i drafted a 48.937 going 205 into corner 1, hehe.. it's getting better
I moved Gearing & Downforce 1 click to the right to start with.. Then.. Aero: Splitter: 5.75 Grille Tape: 60% Wing: 15
Suspension LF: Bump: 5 Rebound: 7 Spring: 950 Ride Hight: 4.625
LR: Bump: 4 Rebound: 6 Spring: 350 Ride Height: 5.994 Trackbar: 9.50
FSB: 1 3/4 RSB: 0
RF: Bump: 4 Rebound: 6 Spring: 1350
RR: Bump: 3 Rear: 5 Spring: 525 Ride Height: 6.875 Trackbar: 10.750
Tires: LF: Pressure: 24.0 Camber: 4.5 Caster: 3.5
LR: Pressure: 24.0 Camber: 1.8
F Toe: 1/32 R Toe: 1/16
RF: Pressure: 44.0 Camber: -2.5 Caster: 3.5
RR: Pressure: 44.5 Camber: 1.8
Weight: Wedge: 50.0 Front: 51.0 Left:50.0
Drivetrain: Ratio: 3.70 1rst: 2.43 2nd: 1.57 3rd: 1.17 4th: 0.95
BrBias: 65/35 BrPressure: 90%
StTrim: 2.5 StLock: 8.5
Thats the set-up i'm running. I only changed the splitter, grille tape, Ride Height, Minor Tire Pressure, & Drivetrain gearing.. So can you help me get faster and stick the bottom to mid lower lane better.. If so please help.. Thanks again..

This is what I have on Vegas. It’s not for the COT but give it a try. I haven’t tried it yet, I’m still concentrating Daytona. I look at like this, once i have a track down packed then I’ll head onto the next one.
Roll Out!!
Las Vegas
Aero: Front Flare L: 1.5” Front Flare R: 1.5” Grille Tape: 55% Rear Spoiler: 70deg
Springs:_____FL______FR_______RL______RR Bump_______2_______4_______3_______4 Rbnd_______4_______4_______5_______7 Spring______950 lb__1350 lb___350 lb___525 lb Ride Height__5”______6.061”___5.939”___7” Track Bar____________________9”_____10.75” Front Sway: 1 7/8” Rear Sway: 0”
Tires:________FL______FR_______RL______RR Pressure_____21.0____44.0_____24.0_____44.0 Camber_____4.5 deg__-2.5 deg__1.8 deg__-1.8 deg Caster______2.0 deg__3.5 deg Front Toe: -1/16” Rear Toe: 1/16”
Weight: Wedge: 50.9% Front Bias: 52% Left Bias: 54.2%
Gearing: Drivetrain: 3.6 / 1 1st: 2.6 / 9.36 2nd: 1.68 / 6.06 3rd: 1.25 / 4.5 4th: 0.96 / 3.45
Brake Bias: 65/35 Brake Press.: 90% Steering Trim: 2.5 deg Steering Lock: 8.5 deg
Great early to build a lead. Fades a little at the end of long runs. VERY hard on the left tires, especially left front. Add air to left front after building a lead. No brakes used. Drive hard into turn 1 and let off. Punch it at about 173. Drive hard into turn 3 and let off. Punch it at about 175. Can be done with no skid, but speeds decline later in run but lap traffic slows you anyhow.

Thanks I'll give this set-up a try and see if it works well in the C.O.T. , I'm a little diffrent in the tracks I race. I go week by week with the Cup guys Practicing and racing the races they are racing trying to match times. Always driving my favorite driver to somehow fool myself into thinking the practice I'm doing and the races I win that week are somehow helping him in setting up his real car ( LOLOL ) Anyways... I'm going to start posting a set-up a week or every two if there is a bi-week, So basically I'll Improve the set-up the next time by.. Oh and what are your times at Daytona??? I'm again running the C.O.T. there but I'd like to know what your getting down to in time.. I'll post a pic of my t.v. screen showing times to back-up anything I say I run... Talk to all you soon with this weeks track set-up for Atalanta to mess with improve or just run...

Last night i hit a 47.5 with no draft at Daytona using Nextel cup. I think i need to work on my gearing somewhat. There is usually one or two maybe three guys that end up pulling away from me. Need help with my gearing, someone. Handling is where I want it. I’ll be posting my Daytona setup this week.
I have found several other setups but I think it’s for PC not 360. This includes Truck, Nationwide and Sprint. To me it is somewhere to start.

howiroll -- Ok I've played alot of Nascar games and Basically PS3 to X-Box360 there is No real diffrence that I've seen I have both. I've used set-ups people say are for the 360 from here on my ps3 so I know it works. If its the same game as everyone else even on the pc if its the tony stewart on front 08 version any set-up on here will work on any format PC X-Box360 or PS3.. So write down the settings print them whatever and punch in the numbers it will work. OH was that an ONLINE race you ran or against the computer in Play-Now or Carreer??? Just wondering.. Cause the set-ups for daytona and Dega here are Pretty Good, Not everyones Race set-ups by a gear or two in this or that direction but Very close so practice these set-ups for a bit once you have a good i dea of where the set-ups need tweeking and try a few things.. NOTHING TO DRASTIC.. You'll never get back to it unless you start over. And remember if your playing full wear and damage on these things alway play into the lap times. And if you tweak something it may not feel like it for like 10 - 15 laps if you race this long.. hope it helps.. Crow

Fastest lap: 28.489
Front Splitter: 6:00 Grille Tape: 45% Rear Wing: 14 Degrees
Front Left Bump: 1 Rebound: 9 Spring: 450lbs Ride Height: 4.750

F Sway Bar 2
R Sway Bar 7/8
Front Right Bump 9 Rebound 4 Spring 1250
Rear Right Bump 9 rebound 3 sring 425 ride height 6.375 track bar 10.500
Front left prss. 23.5 camber 8.0 caster -2.0

Ratio 3.40 1st 2.36 2nd 1.67 3rd 1.28 4th 1.05
rest on the page, leave at default.
I reconmend for racers using linearity and responsiveness both at 80
the car will be at little loose in the beginning but once the tire heat up it will be perfect.
Enjoy. Wino

One thing I'm finding I like is manual shifting. It's helping me out alot when it comes to restarts.

Wanderingwino:
I used that setup and its very good. I have my setting on veteran and I ran 28.3 like you did. It is very loose getting in and in the middle. When you hit that bumb in turn 1, just right it upsets the car. I played with the track bar, wedge and tire pressures to get the loose out. I was able to get the car to tighten up, but it didn't help my speed very much. Its the best Vagas set up I've encountered.
The main thing I have notice with the COT is the left front tire doesn't want to rotate in the corner. Therefore creating a tight condition in the middle. It also hurts the drive off severly.
I wish we could have some of the setups the guys in the Nascar have. Then I could beat the computer on hard.
thacrow187:
Your setup is just too hard on the left front. You simply cannot cut the corner and it doesn't have any drive off because the car is so tight that you just pushes all the way into the wall.
howiroll:
I have that setup alright for the Old car..it works really well with that car, but with the COT it really pushes on exit...After a few laps it gets so tight that you can't hold any kind of speed into the corner. Remember this is with Hard on and no assists.
Thanks for the setups

To stick to the bottom better and get through corners, try adjusting your camber. To me, it looks like your left front could be adjusted more negatively and the right side more positively. To check, run your current set-up on "Test & Tune" for about three laps. Do not spin out or skid more than normal. Then go to "Car Set-Up" and look at the tire temps on the front tires. Adjust as I mentioned above until the inside and outside temps on the particular tire are within 10 degrees. Once you do this, you will notice you will corner better.
